Sometimes you just want a nice comfort dinner, which you can go to without the hassle of a long drive.

Comfort food in Alentejo means migas. If you see this dish, please have a go. It refers usually to the transformation of bread into dough, fried in lard and has meat or fish , or vegetables and seasoning added.

Restaurante Venda Azul: just about 20 minutes away, this place is consensual in its value for money. Food is delicious and at the same time not too expensive. The atmosphere is typical portuguese and won’t overwhelm you (quite the opposite). Food however won’t disappoint you - especially the “migas com porco frito”, one of the most regarded dishes (pork with bread like body). Staff is usually super kind too.

Restaurante o forno: just 17 minutes away, O Forno offers a diverse menu with many “petiscos” (portuguese for bites). If you’re looking for a place to grab and go some “empadas” “O Forno” is definitely an option. Some of the dishes you should ask:

Migas de Espargos (asparagus with a bread like body)

Sopa de cação (traditional fish soup)

Cozido de grão (grain stew)

Ensopado de borrego (marinated lamb)

Herdade das Servas: just 11 minutes away, this restaurante should be saved for a special occasion. The interiors are very cosy and traditional, and the food is exceptional. I would definitely recommend the codfish in the oven with potatoes. You also have some vegetarian dishes available, as well as gluten free. Check location here
